Room 307: Wednesday morning (before classes)
Coraline was deliberately being very quiet as she knelt on her bed, not wanting to disturb Lucas if he was there, while she tacked her page of fingerprints to the wall.

She'd think of it as being as quiet as a mouse, but if Mr Bobo wasn't crazy, then mice probably weren't all that quiet, what with the oompah oompah and the toodle oodle. And, Coraline decided, if she started making oompah oompah and toodle oodle sounds, it would be disturbing for far more than just the obvious reason of noise.

Head tilted, she considered the placement of the page. Maybe it needed to move a bit to the right...

She held her fingers up and wiggled them. "Fingerprints. We took them in class," she explained cheerfully. "I thought they'd look good on the wall. Make our room more interesting."

"You'll never know my secrets," Coraline replied, in what she hoped was a dark and mysterious voice. "I'm a mystery. I may even have a mugshot that goes with the fingerprints." Her eyes brightened. "I showed you my fingerprints, will you show me your tattoo?"

"I'll bet you've got something surprising up your sleeve," Lucas laughed. "I suppose that's only fair. But don't blink or you might miss it." He lifted the short sleeve of his shirt to flash his tattoo at her.

Her eyes widened, just a bit. She'd half-suspected he'd been joking about having one. "It's pretty," she said, getting off her bed so she could get a closer look at it. "What does it mean?"
